Gary Mann is President and Managing Director of Plan Consulting Services for Mann Associates. He is also responsible for the firm’s client and referral source relationships. Gary started his professional career in Chicago with the Internal Revenue Service and has been in private practice for 30 years. His practice concentrates on the design of qualified plans and retirement planning for high net worth individuals.
Although his primary focus is on qualified plans, he has a broad knowledge of tax law as a result of spending 7 years at the IRS in the audit and employee plan divisions. Prior to leaving the IRS for private practice, Gary was one of three executives assigned to manage the Chicago District Audit Division. In private practice, Gary has represented clients at all levels of the IRS including the District, Appellate and National Office.
Having been engaged by publicly held companies and executive out-placement firms, Gary has provided workshops on retirement planning to executives that have been offered financial incentives for voluntary early retirement.
Gary has taught tax and employee benefit law for the IRS Audit Division training programs and has led many seminars including those included in the continuing education programs of the Illinois CPA Society. He has also co-authored and has been a contributing editor for many articles and publications on plan design.
A graduate of Roosevelt University in Chicago, Gary received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in accounting and received his CPA certificate from the University of Illinois. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Illinois Society of Certified Public Accountants and an Associate Professional Member of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA), and a member of the ASPPA Benefits Council of Chicago.
